While summer heat might make fall seem far away, it’s actually right around the corner, and so are the annual drawings for the Brazos River Authority waterfowl hunting blinds available at three BRA reservoirs – Possum Kingdom Lake, Lake Limestone and Lake Granbury.

The first drawing will be held at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, 2018, at the Possum Kingdom Lake Office, 301 Observation Point Road in Graford.

The next two drawings will both be held at 8:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 31, 2018 – one at the Lake Limestone Office, 20226 Sterling Robertson Dam Road in Thornton, and another at the Lake Granbury Office, 4552 Mambrino Highway in Granbury.

In order to participate in the drawings, you must be present at the lake office where they are being held by 8:30 a.m. Once the drawing begins, no other entries will be accepted.

A permit fee of $200 will be collected for each permit issued and must be paid in full at the drawing.  Payment may be made by personal checks or money orders only. One entry is allowed for each person, and only one site is allowed per entry. If there are any slots remaining after the drawings, they will be made available on a first come, first serve basis.

Anyone who wishes to participate in the drawings must be at least 18 years old and possess a 2018-2019 Texas hunting license with a duck endorsement and a current federal waterfowl stamp.

This permit is issued for one season only, and the hunting blind must be removed from the lake property within 10 days of the end of hunting season.

After permit fees are collected, a designated representative will draw one name from the collected entries. The first person selected will have the first choice of available sites. This procedure will be repeated either until all the entries have been pulled and until all the sites have been selected.

The BRA provides the hunting sites, but hunters are responsible for providing their blinds. Hunting is only allowed in specified locations, and not in other areas at the reservoirs. All hunters are required to stay within 20 feet of the marked area while hunting. Up to four people may share the sites.

If you have questions about the drawings, please call the lake office where you would like to hunt. The Lake Limestone number is 903-529-2141, the Lake Granbury number is 817-573-3212 and the Possum Kingdom number is 940-779-2321.
