Boating and Picnicking

Spending time on the water is a quintessential spring break activity, with boating being just one of the many ways your family can enjoy the glistening waters of Lake Limestone. With four boat launching ramps and three courtesy docks on its shorelines, Lake Limestone is the perfect place to take your personal boat. Be sure to pack a lunch and eat at one of the picnic tables that are also available at each of the boat ramps. All the public use areas at Lake Limestone are free and open year-round—no reservations needed.

Hiking and Camping

Explore the outdoors on foot or bike through Possum Kingdom Lake’s 16 miles of scenic trails. Spanning the reservoir’s central peninsula, hikers and bikers alike can start their adventure at any one of the 12 trailheads along the reservoir’s trail system. Enjoy the breathtaking views of the water and its limestone cliffs as you explore the peninsula. Amenities such as parking, restrooms, water fountains, signage maps, rest areas and more are available throughout the trails to ensure a safe experience for all.

Want to stay awhile longer after your hike? Eat and rest all while enjoying Possum Kingdom Lake’s beauty at one of the many campsites or picnic areas. Available to the public on a first-come, first-served basis, BRA parks provide a comfortable, lakeside outdoor experience with a variety of amenities. From covered tables, fire pits and grills to playgrounds and restrooms, camping with your family at Possum Kingdom Lake is effortless. Private parks with cabins, RV hookups and other accommodations are available around the reservoir as well.

Paddling and Fishing

With pristine water and prime fishing opportunities, Lake Granbury is the perfect location for your family’s paddling and fishing adventure. Rent a canoe, kayak or stand-up paddleboard from any of the numerous rental places around the reservoir and explore Lake Granbury’s 121-miles of shoreline. You’ll want to bring your fishing rod—striped bass, sunfish, crappie and more species are common catches at the lake. Several fishing piers and courtesy docks are also located along the shoreline to provide a complete fishing experience for anglers.

Spring break doesn’t have to be expensive or far away to be memorable—plan your outdoor adventure at one of the BRA’s reservoirs today and explore the endless opportunities that they offer. For a full list of each of the reservoir’s amenities, click here.
