The Brazos River Authority allows for waterfowl hunting on Lakes
Possum Kingdom, Granbury and Limestone at specific designated areas
and the restricted adjacent property. A drawing for hunting blind
sites is held at each reservoir toward the end of August each year.
The BRA has established 60 designated areas for waterfowl hunting blinds that are issued by permits for specific locations. Permits are awarded through a lottery drawing. Four hunters may share a designated blind area. If fewer entries are received than the number of available sites, the remaining sites will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Those wishing to obtain a Waterfowl Hunting Site Permit must be at least 18 years of age. They must be present on the day and time of the drawing and have their names registered for the drawing no later than 8:30 a.m. on the drawing date to enter. Registration closes once the drawing begins. Those arriving late will not be included in the drawing.
Only one entry is allowed per person. If drawn, the registered participant may choose one site location. All participants must have a valid Texas hunting license with the Texas Duck Stamp Endorsement and the current federal Waterfowl Stamp.
For safety purposes, hunting on BRA property and public use areas is not allowed.
The use of firearms or projectiles outside of designated areas is also restricted.
The fee for a waterfowl hunting site permit is $200. Forms of payment can be a check made payable to Brazos River Authority, a money order or a card payment (we do not take AMEX).
