Upper Brazos Basin

  • Aug. 1, 7, 8, 14, 15, 21, 22, 28, 29: GLEN ROSE – Track Talk, 10 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. at Dinosaur Valley State Park, 1629 Park Road 59, Glen Rose
    Walk where the dinosaurs once roamed and hear the park rangers retell the story of how the dinosaur tracked across Dinosaur Valley State Park! Meet at the roped-off area at the Main Track Site and bring your questions about the park, dinosaurs and more. The event is free with park admission. Click here to learn more. 
  • Aug. 4: GRANBURY– Toddler Time at the Waterpark, at 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. at the Hood County YMCA, 1475 James Road, Granbury

  • Aug. 7: GRANBURY – First Saturday Bird Walk, 7 – 9 a.m. at Acton Nature Center, 6500 Smoky Hill Court, Granbury
    This monthly tour is directed by Dr. Billy Teels, who earned a Ph.D. in Wildlife Ecology from Mississippi State University and worked as a biologist for 30 years. Now retired, Dr. Teels leads a monthly bird walk through the town of Granbury. Bring your binoculars and plenty of water! For more information, click here.
  • Aug. 28: LUBBOCK – Lubbock Live: Festival for The Arts, 10 a.m. – 11 p.m. at LHUCA, 511 Ave. K., Lubbock
    Come out to Lubbock Live, an arts festival with food trucks, vendors, music all day, dance, art and more. Tickets to the event are $15 for adults and $5 for ages 10 and under. All the proceeds from the event will be donated to a different local arts program. Click here for more information.

  • Aug. 1, 8, 29: WHITNEY – Bird Sleuths of the Two Bridges Trail, 9 – 10 a.m. at Lake Whitney State Park, 433 FM 1244, Whitney
    Explore and enjoy beautiful Lake Whitney at three separate "Bird Sleuths of the Two Bridges Trail" events. Suitable for all ages and experience levels, but don't forget to bring binoculars and water. For more information, click here.

  • Aug. 12: BELTON - Agriculture Business Workshop, 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. at Bell County Extension Office, 1605 N. Main St., Belton
    Interested in starting an agricultural business? Catered towards military veterans, this day-long workshop and explore various opportunities to start your agricultural adventure.   • Aug. 14, 28: BELTON – Scavenger Hunt Elephant Day Edition, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Summer Fun Waterpark, 1410 Waco Road, Belton

  • Aug. 14: WACO – Summer Fun Waterpark Adult Night, 8 – 12 p.m. at Cameron Park Zoo, 1701 North 4th Street, Waco
    Join Cameron Park Zoo for a fun scavenger hunt about elephants. Search for clues while exploring Waco's zoo. The cost is $20 per team, including the cost for the scavenger hunt and one stuffed animal. Admission into the zoo is not included in this price. For more information, click here.

  • Aug. 7: SAN FELIPE– Nature Trail Walk, 10 – 10:50 a.m. at Stephen F. Austin State Park, Park Rd. 38, San Felipe
    Come out to Stephen F. Austin State Park for a short walk led by park volunteer Jack Philley. The walk starts at the Nature Center and will focus on the native plants along the trail. Learn more here.
  • Aug. 28: NEEDVILLE – Alligators – Children's Storytime and Crafts, 10 – 10:50 a.m. at Brazos Bend State Park, 21901 FM 762 Road, Needville
