Draft Drought Contingency Plan
Update 2024

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) requires the Brazos River Authority to maintain a Drought Contingency Plan (DCP) and to update that plan every five years. The BRA’s DCP was last updated in 2019 and is undergoing the current update in compliance with TCEQ rules.

The following is a summary of the proposed changes to the plan:

  1. Established new trigger levels for Lakes Granger and Belton, and the Lake Stillhouse-Hollow-Georgetown subsystem and the Lake Possum Kingdom-Granbury-Whitney subsystem.
  2. Updated treated water trigger levels specific to BRA’s East Williamson County Regional Water System; and
  3. Updated Lower Colorado River Authority requirements for the use of water sourced from Lakes Buchanan and Travis in Williamson County
